Our Quick Trip to Milford, NH with a 12" bit of Snow

March 10, 2005 - March 14, 2005

Barbara and Scott were celebrating their 50th birthdays this year (Barbara March 13th and Scott April 6th so much of the family gathered in Milford to celebrate their birthdays. Mike and I flew out of Raleigh Durham this time around (cheaper air fare - but ironically the flight's first stop was Charlotte!). We arrived in Manchester and made a quick run to our hotel and then up to spend time with Mother, Barbara and Beth.

On Friday morning bright and early we picked up Mother and headed down to Rhode Island to see Jennifer, Connor and Patrick. Got there about 10am just as the snow started to spit a bit. Mike became Connor's new best friend while we were there and it was a relief for Jennifer as she's due with Casey - a little girl - on approximately the 15th of April. We enjoyed a great visit (and Mike was exhausted) but ended up leaving earlier than planned because the snow was really picking up. The drive back to Milford wasn't bad because the temperatures were still high enough that nothing was sticking to the road. So we made good time on the drive back without much of a weather problem.

Saturday there wasn't much on the agenda so we stopped in at Jim and Terry's with their "boarder Elizabeth". We spent a little bit of time with all three and eventually headed on out to Mother's with the snow starting to really come down. We spent the day at Mother's relaxing and reading and then headed out for Japanese Food. Elizabeth was in 7th Heaven because she got to have sushi along with Mike. Terry and I had tempura and everybody else opted for Chinese. Unfortunately Terry had a reaction to the seaweed salad of Elizabeth's but recovered to make a fantastic presentation at work (Staples) the next morning.

Sunday we roamed around a bit and enjoyed the snowy scenery with clearing skies. The snow looked like cotton balls on the tips of the trees and it was all melting as fast as it came down the day before. We got to Mother's and pitched in a little bit waiting for the caterers to arrive to set up for the birthday party. Soon everything was in place and we enjoyed a great lunch organized by Dave. After the luncheon we took Mother over to Barbara's to visit with Dave and his friend Justin and stayed a while ourselves before heading back to our hotel to pack and check out bright and early the next morning. With a stop at LaGuardia we were back in Charlotte by 3PM with a very happy Magic who was delighted to see us.
