| Brittany wanted to spend her short Easter Weekend with her long distance friend Shelbi up in Maryland so Mike and I journeyed to Shelbi's, dropped Brittany off and headed back to our hotel in Fredericksburg. By the time we got in it was late so we had supper and headed for bed. Saturday morning we drove into DC and first headed for Mount Vernon which I had never seen. We visited the National Archives where not only the Declaration of Independence, Constituion of the United States and Bill of Rights are housed but recently they re-added the Magna Carta to their collection. It's such a sad shame that those documents are barely readable. They are only 250 years old and yet things like the Dead Sea Scrolls are easily readable (provided you read Hebrew). We also hit the National Museum of the American Indian (this was the same day Brittany and Shelbi went to the Holocaust Museum in DC. Sunday we made another trip up to see the Aerospace Museum and the Natural History Museum. Saturday was really chilly and windy and while the sun was out on Sunday which helped it was still cold. We did manage to find a few cherry trees in bloom but not many. A few more weeks and they should be at peak! | |
