My West Coast Trip - Frank & Kids, Friends, The Zoo and PRT 20th Anniversary

April 30, 2005 - May 4, 2005

I had a very nice trip to the West Coast and Mike had a successful trip to NYC. Landed Friday afternoon and picked up the Hertz Car with a GPS system in it. Wasn't sure I knew the way to Frank's from the airport ... and there were a few other unfamiliar places I was going. Anyway headed toward Frank's place and it took me 90 min to go 30 miles. Miserable LA traffic! I don't miss it but then again didn't normally drive in rush hour. Had a grand Friday night with Laura, Frank and the kids and then Sat. morning with Frank and the kids. Picked Claire up from a car wash and then went in pursuit of things she needed to celebrate her 15th birthday party. We ended back up at Sheila's place to set up the pinata and also to do a "bounce" in the bouncer...

Headed for San Diego late Saturday afternoon and settled into a motel at the other end of Mira Mesa Blvd. They had a small mini kitchen so I picked up noriches and nutrigrain bars and OJ for breakfast and a few other odds and ends. On Sunday I was supposed to have lunch with Diane but she missed because of health problems. So headed to Fins for a lite lunch and then out to visit with Maxine and Jack. Had a wonderful visit and caught up on things going on since we saw each other in February. Diane reached me and we set up supper at Home Towne Buffet. After great visit.

Monday I headed for the SD Zoo of course and then in mid afternoon went back to Maxine and Jack's for their pot luck supper. Tuesday morning, after picking up the ring from the jewelers that I had mangled, I headed back up to LA close to the airport. Got settled in there and went to find some lunch. The PRT 20th Anniversary Celebration was that night at the ACE Art Gallery in Beverly Hills. In view of the traffic over the same route Friday afternoon I allowed 1 hour to get there but was there in 30 min and most of that was down Wilshire Blvd. You certainly couldn't be embarrassed by the female art form at this gallery ... nothing left to the imagination in sculpture, drawings or pictures. The party was fun and it was great to see so many PRT People all at one time. Amongst the PRT people were also James Cromwell, Mike Farrell and Dennis Quaid.

My flight headed out at noon time through Memphis and I met back up with Mike at the airport Wednesday Night. We stopped for a light snack as meals on the airplanes are now non-existent.. So today I am playing catchup.and visit.
