| On Tuesday October 13th Mike and I headed for the West Coast for play time (no work involved this time around). We arrived in San Diego at about 10am and found our friend Trudy down with a bug or allergies so we went off on our own to the Point Loma Seafood Market. YUM! Eventually after some roaming we found ourselves at our B&B - The Pelicon Cove Inn Bed and Breakfast . Our room was the La Jolla Room. It was large and airy with lots of windows and the weather let us keep the windows open night and day. What a wonderful experience. Nancy our hostess put on outstanding breakfasts each morning and was just great to be around. On the Monday morning of our travel back to Charlotte she even got up early and made breakfast for us so that we could be off on time for the airport. (Spring and Fall in Charlotte seem to pass in an instant -we go from closed windows for humidity to closed windows for cold with little in between). We found a Rubios that night for a shrimp burrito and on Wednesday were off for a day at the Zoo (where most of the pictures come from). A trip to Filippis Pizza Groto in Little Italy topped off the Zoo. Their children's size lasanga and meat ball would have lasted Samantha and Hailey for a week! I couldn't finish even that one. Thursday we were off to lunch with Frank and Laura. Laura was then off to an audition. We went with Frank and picked up Gabe and then on to Eliza's track meet. Had a few minutes to say hello to both after Eliza's meet and then relaxed at Frank's for a bit before heading back down in rush hour traffic to San Diego. This is when staying north of SD had its advantages ... Friday was lunch with Tom and Kay, Saturday was lunch with Trudy (Had tried for Yoshi but they were closed at noon time on Sat so we headed for Home Town Buffet). Saturday night we met Susan and Hal in Old Town for Mexican as they are staying in their turtle home in SD probably for the winter. Sunday was Theatre Day ... 3pm we were in Venice at PRT for Our Town and then at 7pm we were in La Mirada for Steel Magnolias with Cathy Rigby along with Frank and Laura. Then suddenly it's Monday morning and time to fly home. We had a busy week with some down time for reading and relaxing and lots of socializing. | |
