Christmas at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC

We took Brittany up to the Biltmore Estate for their Christmas Celebration. She loves that big, old, expensive house! She is writing a collection of stories based around the house and took lots of notes yesterday about the decor, the sculptures and paintings. She also drove about 25 miles on an easy road. She took over outside of Gastonia and drove almost to I-40 that takes us to Asheville. She did very well. All she had to do was stay in the right lane and keep her speed between 50 and 60 (limit was 65) but we didn't want to push her. She was very tense but did very well and started learning to adjust her speed with the up and downs of the hills. Hopefully it will give her more confidence to go for Drivers Ed after the first of the year.

Turns out yesterday was a "timed" entry into the house.. When we got there at 11:45am our entry time was 2:15pm so instead of going elegant for lunch at the Deerpark Restaurant we did burgers at the Stable Cafe and then Mike and Brittany went Christmas shopping and I bought a few odds and ends like I need another Christmas CD and found Christmas ornaments with the grandkid names on them! I'll have to ask Heather how she is spelling Hailey (Haley)'s name... Found it as Hailey on the ornament so that's what I got.

The house as always was gorgeous but even more so because of all the Christmas Decorations. My pictures aren't the greatest because they were taken "quietly". No flash or enhancements while taking the pictures. I am always lucky to come up with a few that are worth viewing. Brittany, Mike and myself are tucked in there in various places. Hope you enjoy the house as much as we did.
